A practical, doctor-led guide to anti-wrinkle (botulinum toxin) treatment: how it works, who it suits, what it costs, and what to look for in a clinic.
What Is Anti-Wrinkle Treatment?
Anti-wrinkle treatment uses small, precise injections of botulinum toxin type A — the same medicine used for decades to treat conditions like migraine, excessive sweating and muscle spasm — to relax the muscles that cause expression lines on the face.
When the targeted muscles are temporarily relaxed, the overlying skin smooths out. The result is a softer, fresher look that does not freeze your face.
Common treatment areas are:
- Frown lines (glabella) — the vertical "11s" between the eyebrows
- Forehead lines — horizontal lines that appear when you raise your eyebrows
- Crow’s feet — fine lines at the outer corner of the eyes when you smile
- Bunny lines — the small lines on the bridge of the nose
- Lip flip — a tiny dose to soften a downturned upper lip
- Masseter (jaw slimming and bruxism) — for grinding and a softer jawline
Why Doctor-Led Matters
Anti-wrinkle treatment looks simple from the outside, but it relies on three things going right:
- Correct diagnosis. Not every line should be treated. Some lines benefit from filler, some from skincare, some from rest. A doctor assesses your face as a whole.
- Correct dose. Too little and the result is short-lived. Too much and you look frozen or get a heavy brow.
- Correct anatomy. Injecting too close to certain muscles causes a droopy eyelid or asymmetric brow — uncommon, but real.
At Dr. Torun’s Clinic, every anti-wrinkle treatment is reviewed and delivered by a medical doctor. We will tell you if treatment is not right for you, and we will recommend lower doses rather than higher when in doubt.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Most adults with dynamic expression lines (lines that appear when you move your face) are suitable. We tend to see best results when:
- The lines are dynamic rather than deeply etched
- The skin still has reasonable elasticity
- The patient has realistic expectations
We do not offer treatment to people who are:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Under 18
- Have neuromuscular conditions affected by botulinum toxin
- Have an active infection at the proposed injection site
What to Expect at Your Appointment
- Consultation. We review what is bothering you, take a brief medical history, and look at your face at rest and in motion. We will discuss what is realistic and what is not.
- Assessment. We mark up the injection points and discuss the plan and price before you decide to proceed.
- Treatment. Injections take 5–10 minutes. The needles are very fine. Discomfort is minimal — most patients describe it as a small pinch.
- Aftercare. You can return to normal activities immediately, but we recommend:
- No strenuous exercise for 4 hours - No facial massage, facials or saunas for 24 hours - Stay upright for 4 hours - Avoid lying face-down for the rest of the day
- Review. If it is your first treatment with us, we offer a complimentary review at 2 weeks to check the result.
When Will I See Results?
- Day 3–5: lines start to soften
- Day 10–14: full result visible
- 3–4 months: result starts to wear off; this is the right time for your next treatment
Consistency is everything. The first treatment is the calibration; treatments 2 and 3 are when most patients say they feel they have found their natural-looking baseline.
Pairing With Other Treatments
Anti-wrinkle injections work best as part of a wider plan:
- [Dermal filler](/services/dermal-filler) for deeper static lines or volume loss
- [PRP](/services/prp-treatment) or [mesotherapy](/services/mesotherapy) for skin quality and texture
- Medical-grade skincare to support the result between treatments
We do not believe in over-treating. If we think you do not need filler yet, we will say so.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, when administered by a properly trained medical doctor in a clinical setting. Botulinum toxin has been used in medicine for over 30 years. At Dr. Torun's Clinic the product is prescribed and injected by a doctor, not a beauty therapist.
